Why spend time doing something when someone else will do it for you for free (or really darn close to free)? I did a little searching recently to see what I could do to eliminate grocery shopping. It takes way too much time and is completely uninteresting. Luckily I ended up checking out safeway.com. Where I used to live, I had absolutely no hope of finding any grocery store that would deliver since I was too far out in the country.
Being in the Seattle area fixed that. Here is where safeway.com delivers:
- San Francisco, CA and the greater Bay Area
- Sacramento, CA
- Portland, OR
- Vancouver, WA
- Seattle, WA and the surrounding areas
I’ve signed up, but have not tried it yet. The interface to the site is organized nicely, and the best part so far is that they look at my current Safeway convenience card and take all of my past purchases and put them into a favorites section. Finally a good use of that convenience card, since I’ve always been convinced they use it to track my purchases. Ever try shopping without one though? The prices almost double.
Back to safeway.com. Your first delivery is free. So I’m going to check it out this week. After that, the charge looks like it is $4.95 for an order of $150 or more (which most of my orders usually are). We’ll see how it goes.
